With the hot summer season ahead, Ironhouse Sanitary District remains committed to helping customers save water by once again opening its Residential Recycled Water Fill Station on Saturday, June 30. The Fill Station is expected to remain open until Sept. 29 this year. 

The Fill Station is open to anyone who would like to water outside plants, lawns, trees and gardens. Oakley or Bethel Island residents and business owners can receive recycled water for free. Residents from outside ISD’s service area of Oakley and Bethel Island can use the Fill Station for a small fee.

At this time the district plans to open the Fill Station Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. On June 30, the Fill Station will open at 8 a.m. with a re-grand opening barbecue taking place from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The barbecue is open to all those who sign-up or take home water from the Fill Station on this day. New customers and previous users are welcome.

Customers need to bring their own containers up to 300 gallons to collect their recycled water to take home and can make as many visits back per day, during open hours, as they wish.

Ironhouse first opened its Residential Recycled Water Fill Station in June 2015 when more than 800 people signed up to use the Fill Station. It has remained popular since then, with many returning regularly for water to irrigate lawns, trees and gardens. Recycled water can also be used to wash cars and clean off driveways and decks. Ironhouse’s recycled water is not to be used for drinking, cooking, bathing or in swimming pools.
