Ironhouse Sanitary District has completed its annual Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year of 2018-19. The report includes the District’s annual independent audit and is themed in celebration of Ironhouse’s 75th Anniversary serving the communities of Oakley and Bethel Island.
The audit report features the Management’s Discussion and Analysis, the Statement of Net Assets, the Statement of Revenues, Expenses, and Changes in Net Assets, the Statement of Cash Flows and the Notes to Financial Statements. Following the independent audit is a series of graphs and charts to help readers further understand the District’s finances.
The CAFR is also filled with information about the District, including service area boundaries, information about the District’s Water Recycling Facility and the cleaning operations, the collection system operations and more.
The District’s 2016-17 and 2017-18 CAFRs were both awarded a "Certificate of Excellence" from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). The GFOA selects an impartial panel of accounting professionals that judge annual financial reports to make sure the report meets the highest standards. This includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate the agency’s financial story.
The GFOA is a major professional organization servicing the needs of nearly 19,000 appointed and elected local, state and provincial-level government officials and other finance practitioners across the United States. It provides top-quality publications, training programs, services and products designed to enhance the skills and performances of those responsible for government finance policy and management. The association is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, with offices in Washington, D.C.
Ironhouse Sanitary District, which began service in 1945 as Oakley Sanitary District, is an independent California Special District that provides wastewater and water recycle services for the City of Oakley and the unincorporated community of Bethel Island.
